My passion for the outdoors and drawing can both be traced back to my childhood. My dad first introduced me to the outdoors at an early age. Countless hunting and fishing trips, throughout the Appalachian Mountains, ignited my fervor for God’s creation. Portraying the fish and game that we encountered during these outings often served as my motivation to draw. Around the age of eight, my mom recognized and encouraged my artistic intuition by connecting me with local wildlife artist Phil Krebs. Throughout my tenure with Phil, and into my teens, this interest slowly progressed into a desired career path in the arts that began during the fall of 2003.
During my four years in college, I had the privilege to learn from some of the finest artists and craftsmen in the country, all of who cultivated my God given talent and guided me toward a Bachelors of Science degree in Art Education. Throughout my tenure at KU, drawing was my chosen concentration; striving to connect with my viewers by capturing moments that evoked feelings of nostalgia was my primary intent. It wasn't until fairly recently that my intention shifted and I began to combine my faith with my passions for art and fly fishing. The primary purpose of my work is to honor and glorify God. Romans 1:20 says, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."...My hope is that viewers will get a glimpse of the awe inspiring power of our divine creator as seen through the eyes of a fly fisherman.
